I am creating an archive of pictures that I take from around the state. Having been born and raised in Hawaii, it's surprising how little I know of this state. What I mean is that I am trying to write a little about the various places that I am taking pictures of and I am realizing that I actually have to "research" these locations that I've always taken for granted! There are places that I drive by almost every day and there are places that I haven't seen for many, many years and I am only now discovering an appreciation for the beauty of the island. I hope to share with you some of the things that make this state unique.

Koko Head and Koko Crater

Koko Head and Koko Crater are located on the far southeast coast of Oahu. Many years ago I was talking with a coworker who was from the mainland and I mentioned Koko Head. She didn't know where Koko Head was, so I said that it was the two big mountains out by Hawaii Kai. She then said, "THESE are two big mountains," pointing to her chest. True story! I really miss her... :-) Hey Shelly, if you ever see this, e-mail me!
